The Red Hood is the alias of several characters from DC Comics’ comic books. The Joker’s persona was first used in the 1951 storyline “The Man Behind The Red Hood!” which tells the origin story of the Joker.
Following an encounter with Batman, an unnamed criminal wearing a red dome-shaped cowl is damaged by chemicals and goes insane, giving rise to his future Joker identity.
